Who is New Jack Lord? New Jack Lord is a powerful band of old school rock'n'roll devotees who write, arrange, jam, and perform in the New York metropolitan area. These seasoned veterans deliver a focused, energetic live show that fuses rock styles. With an equal emphasis on melody, harmony, groove, and pure wit and emotion, New Jack Lord's songs offer a unique blend of heavy, classic, and progressive rock into a groovy stew which will have you flashing back and looking ahead.

Who do they sound like? At one point or another, the band's sound has been influenced by Deep Purple, the Black Crowes, Cheap Trick, the Who, Gov't Mule, Stone Temple Pilots, Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, Pearl Jam, the Faces, Beatles, and Stones. New Jack Lord seeks to grow from their influences and create an instantly recognizable & lasting musical language that will resonate with rock fans for years to come. NJL is not a jam band, but rather a heavy rock songwriting band that can jam!

Fine. Why should I care? Because the members of New Jack Lord are music fans first and foremost. They transcend industry trends and simply follow their gut instincts to create riveting tunes which will move you, combining raw energy with top notch musicianship and sophisticated songcraft. Ok...so who are these guys?

Jim Puglio (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica) is better-known as the dynamic frontman for the Jersey circuit cover band, Indian Boy. Jim has also appeared in many other area bands (most notably Arthur Kill & the Pollutants, Head, & Substitute). He flexes his original songwriting and lyrical muscle in New Jack Lord, and is solely responsible for the production and recording of the band’s entire catalog to date.

Joel Primer (lead guitar, b-vocals) is known for his work as the lead guitarist and songwriting collaborator in the Nick Clemons Band. He's shared the stage with members of the E-Street Band and has performed around the nation including the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame, and with various acts in the NYC clubs such as Mike Rocket and the Stars. Besides cranking out bluesy leads and funky rhythms, Joel has also performed extensive sets of acoustic-oriented music and gigged with the Joni Mitchell tribute Rainy Night House.

Rob Shaw (bass, b-vocals) appears internationally with the acclaimed tribute band, Blizzard, as well as with Jersey locals Indian Boy. He anchors New Jack Lord with a thundering bass reminiscent of John Entwistle, and can make even the softest whisper sound heavy. New Jack Lord affords Rob the opportunity to showcase his full range of talents spanning the low frequency spectrum, and his stage presence alone is reason enough to experience this band live.

Phil Long (drums) has played with countless bands on the scene. The original drummer for NJ heavyweights Prophet and Edgar Cayce, Phil has also performed with the Steely Dan tribute the Royal Scam, Carnaby Street, Brian Quinn, The Koots, and numerous rock, blues, and jazz artists. Phil has been fortunate to study with such drum luminaries as Joe Morello, Bernard Purdie, and Paul Wertico of the Pat Metheny Group. Phil's devotion to his craft, deep groove, and sheer intensity propel New Jack Lord into the stratosphere.
